Is Your Santa List GDPR Compliant?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year again and across Ireland, hundreds of thousands of children accompanied by loving parents are flocking to visit Santa.

With just weeks to go before the big day, a seasonal surge is well underway fuelling a level of demand that each year spawns a cottage industry – the pop-up Santa visitor experience.

At Future Ticketing, over 120,000 children visit a Santa visitor attraction this year powered by our cloud-based ticketing software at locations across the country.

Santa provides a seasonal boost for traditional large visitor attractions such as Birr Castle, Bunratty Castle & Folk Park, King Johns Castle, Dunbrody Famine Ship and Irish Emigrant Experience, Malahide Castle, Gurteen College, Santa Land and Oakfield Park each of whom employs our software. The regal settings of these attractions enhances the overall visitor experience and makes for an excellent family day out.

With the number of primary school children rising by 8% to over 500,000 in the last Census, Santa visitor attractions have never been is such high demand.

In 2018, however, the Santa experience has taken on a new dimension – GDPR. General Data Protection Regulation are not words we might expect to associate with the man who lives in the North Pole but they are important words nevertheless.

For Santa hosts, compliance is paramount when dealing with high levels of data on adults and children. At Future Ticketing, our processes are fully GDPR compliant and ready to go.

Demand for seasonal events based around themes such as Christmas, Easter and Halloween has never been higher so it is vital that owners of these visitor attractions ensure they are data compliant.

At Future Ticketing, the visitor experience is a priority. Our software enables pre-booking over mobile phones and tablets – the fastest growing area of ticketing sales. Perhaps most importantly of all at Christmas, our flexible technology enables to the minute time slot bookings which minimises queuing time for parents and their children. Parents can submit their child’s name in advance and allow Santa do the rest.

Happy Christmas everyone.
